A bottle of the splendid Macallan Oscuro 1824 Collection Speyside single malt whisky. This particular edition of Macallan Oscuro was the revamped packaging available between 2015-2017 using the same decanter bottle as Macallan Reflexion and arriving in an unusual gift box that opens sideways from the top.
Macallan Oscuro was first introduced in 2010 and has been hugely popular with Macallan fans ever since, thanks to its eye-catching presentation, rich Oloroso sherry character and higher bottling strength of 46.5%. A luxurious, old school style sherried Macallan from the top drawer.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
