An old bottle of Macallan 10-year-old Speyside single malt whisky in a limited edition gift tin. This was bottled back in the 1990s, back in the days when the distillery only bottled 100% sherry-matured single malts.
The 1990s Macallan 10-year-olds are always a delight - in those days, this was the benchmark entry-level 10-year-old single malt in the Scotch whisky category and the epitome of the richer style of Speyside. A rich but easy-to-drink sherried classic.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
