Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Robertsons Of Kirkwall 75cl / 52.7%
A bottle of single cask Highland Park 1990 19-year-old Island single malt whisky. This was one of several fantastic Highland Park single casks that were privately bottled by local Orkney establishment Robertson's of Kirkwall between the late 1980s and the late Noughties.
This Dragon Highland Park edition was one of a trio of 19-year-old casks from the 1990 vintage that closed out Robertson's Dragon series, and was released at its natural cask strength of 52.7%. These delicious 1990 Highland Parks were rather unusual: originally matured in Oloroso sherry casks, they were transferred into bourbon casks for finishing and have become justly famous over the years. A superb old school Highland Park straight out of the top drawer.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
