Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 58.6%
A bottle of Glenfiddich 15-year-old Hand-Filled, the exclusive cask strength version of Glenfiddich 15-year-old Solera that is only available to visitors to the distillery itself. This edition of Glenfiddich Hand-Filled came from Batch 42, and was bottled in 2016.
The venerable solera at Glenfiddich is never allowed to go below half full before being topped up with further 15-year-old whiskies matured in sherry, bourbon or new oak casks, ensuring a continuity of quality, and the Glenfiddich Hand-Filled bottlings have a deserved reputation for rich, complex flavours beyond the normal distillery style. This Hand-Filled Glenfiddich 15-year-old Batch 42 weighs in at a mighty 58.6% natural cask strength, so you might be advised to keep the water jug to hand.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
