At the top end of Glen Scotia's core range, this marvellous 25-year-old Glen Scotia was matured in 100% American oak and married in first fill bourbon casks before bottling.
Released at 48.8% (not far from the old 85 Imperial proof), Glen Scotia 25-year-old was bottled without colouring or chill filtration and recently scooped the overall top prize Best in Show award at the San Francisco World Spirit Competition in 2021.
Palate: Coastal air, red apple and tangy orange peel with vanilla syrup and caramel sweetness.
Finish: Long lingering sea salt with a spicy note of ground ginger.

The Glen Scotia 25 Year Old was named the best whisky in the world for 2021. The San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) is not only one of the most prestigious spirits competitions in the world, but it is also the second oldest spirits competition in the world, having started in 2000.
The SFWSC is judged by celebrated experts with decades of industry experience in their fields. The competition received almost 4000 entries across 31 categories - and our enduring 25 year old scotch was the overall winner, being recognised as the ‘Best in Show’.
The Glen Scotia distillery and brand were well-represented among the award-winning whiskies at this competition, with our 10 year old whisky receiving a double gold medal and our 15 year old whisky winning gold too.

Admittedly, I haven't tried every whisky in the world. I like the Laphroaig, peaty and uncompromising end of the single malt scale. This is my current favourite. A brutal and beautiful drink. Harsh and refined; sour and sweet. Dangerously tasty. A real find for me, this one.
I acquired mine after someone had poured it away, and used the empty as a candle holder. Despite imbibing this Glenrothes from a drain, it was decent. 57.1% seemed to remove any of the drain ickiness. It has also somewhat dulled the pain I'm still in from recently trapping my, ahem, in my zipper.
