Glen Scotia's 2022 Seasonal Release is this splendid limited edition Glen Scotia 12-year-old finished in Amontillado sherry casks.
This 12-year-old Glen Scotia Seasonal Release spent the majority of its maturation in first fill ex-bourbon barrels before a 12-month finishing period in Amontillado sherry butts, giving a nutty, saline edge to the whisky, which has been bottled at a hearty 53.3% without colouring or chill filtration.
This sounds like a perfect hip flask dram.

A warm, nutty dram with long lingering vanilla notes and a mildly dry finish. Subtle maritime nuances on the nose and palate transport you to Campbeltown, as if walking along on our harbour in winter.
It's an ok whisky from this campbelltown distillery, but nothing special really. This is not a full time sherry cask bottling unfortunately (like the Springbank Hazelburn ones), it's one of those cask conditioning ones where they get stuck in another cask for a year or so, with limited effect. Not bad, just overpriced.

Although I know and like some of the Glen Scotia editions this one was bought for Santa to bring so I dare not touch it before Christmas day.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
