Deanston distillery's bold, malty spirit character is a great match for a sherry cask, so we're looking forward to getting our tastebuds round this vintage Deanston 12-year-old assembled from a batch of Oloroso sherry casks.
This 2008 vintage Deanston has been fully matured in the aforementioned Oloroso sherry casks, and bottled as a 12-year-old for release in autumn 2021 at a hale and hearty 52.7%.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Auburn.
Nose: Cherries and chocolate reminiscent of a black forest gateaux, followed by sweet spice, nutmeg and sultanas.
Palate: Treacle toffee, dark fruits and festive spice with hints of mocha and a touch of pine.
Finish: Long and warming finish with notes of gingerbread and nutmeg.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
