Ardbeg 1980 Kildalton bottled in 2004 at 57.6%. This bottling was drawn from very lightly peated stocks of Ardbeg distilled in the early 1980s. Now something of a legendary bottling this is big, full bodied and powerful whisky - just without the peat. A kind of naked, stripped back Ardbeg that throws up lots of honey, black pepper, sea shore notes, very delicate medicinal touches, pine resin, herbal liqueurs and big background spices. Delicious and fascinating.
