Released in 2007, Ardbeg Almost There was the third release in the Ardbeg Path to Peaty Maturity series that charted the journey of Ardbeg's new make spirit after Glenmorangie's takeover on its evolution into Ardbeg 10-year-old.
These youngish Ardbegs were all characterised by varying degrees of intense smoke, porridge, acetone, muesli, phenols, immensely grassy peat and increasing vanilla aspects. Lined up they make for a fascinating window into the maturation process of a masterfully made, modern peated whisky.
