This was a revelation at the time to many who didn't know just how incredible old Ardbeg could be. Now rightly seen as a historic bottling that marked a new phase in the growing popularity of single malt whisky around the world.
This remains an incredible dram to this day, hugely phenolic, tarry and oily with a beautifully smoky and coastal complexity throughout.
