An old litre bottle of the original general release Glenmorangie Madeira Finish Highland single malt whisky. The solid green label on this edition indicates that it would have been bottled in the 1990s or very early 2000s, back when the distillery’s standard releases had age statements and their wine finishes were relatively new, exciting and subtly executed. This version was introduced in 1996 and replaced by the more familiar ‘stripe’ label in around 2003/4 before being discontinued in 2007.

This Glenmorangie Madeira Finish, along with the Sherry Finish and Port Finish of the day, was matured a minimum of 12 years before being reracked for the relatively short final finishing period, and these 12-year-old versions are noticeably superior to the later no-age-statement iterations of this classic whisky.
