A 2009 vintage Glentauchers, aged for 17 years and bottled in September 2026 by Alistair Walker Whisky Company for the Infrequent Flyers series. Drawn from single cask #6256, this Speyside single malt received a finishing period in a Sauternes hogshead before being bottled at 55% ABV, with an outturn of just 265 bottles.
The use of a Sauternes hogshead adds an interesting dimension to this release. Sauternes, the celebrated sweet white wine from Bordeaux, is known for its rich honeyed character and notes of apricot, citrus and tropical fruit. Its influence can complement the natural fruitiness of Glentauchers, potentially introducing additional sweetness, depth and complexity while retaining the underlying distillery character.
Part of the Infrequent Flyers range established by independent bottler Alistair Walker in 2018, this limited single cask release offers an interesting interpretation of Glentauchers, combining 17 years of ageing with the distinctive influence of a Sauternes wine cask.
