Speyside

Speyside Distillery began production in 1990 at Tromie Mills near Kingussie, making it one of Scotland’s younger single malt distilleries. A small-scale operation with just one pair of pot stills, its whisky has appeared under several names over the years, including Drumguish, The Speyside and, more recently, SPEY.

Harvey’s of Edinburgh acquired the distillery and its stocks in 2012, also producing Beinn Dubh single malt and Byron’s Gin. Speyside’s house style is typically light and approachable, with soft fruit, cereals, vanilla and gentle spice.

Production at Tromie Mills ended in 2025 following the expiry of the lease. With future production planned for a new site, whisky distilled at the original Speyside Distillery now comes from a closed or ‘lost’ distillery.
