Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 48.6%
An old bottle of the magnificent Brora 35-year-old bottled without colouring or chill filtration for Diageo's Special Releases in 2014. This was the 13th Brora Special Release and the third and final 35-year-old in the series.
This 35-year-old Brora Special Release was bottled from a small batch of refill American and European oak casks from the 1978 vintage in a limited edition of 2964 bottles at its natural cask strength of 48.6%. One of the best of the latter-day Brora Special Releases, this 2014 edition has subtle but well-integrated smoke, but is more famous for a phenomenal fruitiness encompassing melon, pineapple, citrussy cooked grapefruit, pear and apple flavours, balanced by hints of pepper, hay and natural caramel. A masterpiece.

This is beautiful! Decent sherry hit, lots of dark fruit, leaning towards ripe plum for me. Hit of mint too which I find more in heavily sherried bottles. Very decent abv. Let's face it, if it was bottled by the (m) distillery in this presentation it would cost £300/£350 minimum. Will be treating myself to anoulther shortly 😁 drop of water makes this just too moreish!
