Old Potrero 18th Century Style Whiskey

The Anchor Distilling Co in San Francisco have attempted to create the original whiskey of America with this Old Potrero.

To recreate the 18th century style as best as they can they created the whiskey from a mash of 100% rye malt, as this was the grain of choice back in the 18th century.

Using lightly toasted handmade fine grain new American oak barrels gives a wonderfully subtle flavour.

For ageing, several un-charred oak barrels are used to achieve the balanced complexity that complements this whiskey’s traditional heritage.

This scored a very impressive 94 points and was awarded a gold medal and the Beverage Tasting Institute 2020.
