Johnny Drum Private Stock is a high strength Kentucky Bourbon bottled by Kentucky Bourbon Distillers, who are now known as Willett Distillery since the revival of their own distilling facility in 2012. Most of KBD's releases are sourced bourbons, predominantly from Heaven Hill and MGP.
Bottled at a palate-friendly 101 US Proof (50.5%), Johnny Drum Private Stock is an often overlooked Kentucky straight bourbon with plenty of oomph and stands up well against most other American whiskeys at this price point. Definitely one to try if you're a bourbon fan and haven't had it yet.

The nose is sour apple, vanilla, and oak. The palate is a snowball rolling over fruits, vanilla, and spices, mixing them all together into a well balanced and complex Whiskey.

I acquired mine after someone had poured it away, and used the empty as a candle holder. Despite imbibing this Glenrothes from a drain, it was decent. 57.1% seemed to remove any of the drain ickiness. It has also somewhat dulled the pain I'm still in from recently trapping my, ahem, in my zipper.
Since my daughter lives in Yorkshire I had to try this especially when I saw the peat finish. Its a promising young whisky but I would have preferred a more definite peat finish similar to the one on offer from the Glasgow Distilliery
