This 18yo is more sherry driven and as a result is a richer more majestic take on the Auchentoshan style. Not to mention a decade or two of glass mellowing to boot. A great dram.
Auchentoshan, Gaelic for "Corner of the field" was founded in 1817 and is situated today at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills near the Erskine Bridge. It changed hands many times until 1969 when it was sold to Eddie Cairns who then proceeded to upgrade the distillery and then sold it to Stanley Morrison (later Morrison Bowmore) in 1984. It is known as the only Scotch whisky that is fully triple distilled and is today owned by Edrington Beam Suntory.
