Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 54.9%
The second batch of 1997 Springbank was bottled in 2008 from recharred sherry casks and is a powerful, savoury dram with a heavy coastal intensity of damp earth, brine, and smoke balanced with subtle, sweet sherry fruit notes. Bottled at 54.9%, there's plenty of strength to play around with as well, although we prefer this one at full strength.
The two batches of Springbank 1997 bottled in 2007 and 2008 were key bottlings demonstrating the renaissance of Springbank's whisky from the mid to late 1990s after a few wobbly years. A focus on wood policy - of which these bottlings were among the first standout results - served the distillery very well and laid the foundations for the stunning success Springbank has enjoyed this century.
