Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 43%
The received wisdom about Rosebank used to be that it peaked young, and that anything over 12 years was too much for this most gentle and creamy of Lowland spirits.
This myth was exposed in the early 1990s when the likes of Signatory and Cadenhead's were bringing out spectacular 1960s vintages and was known as nonsense by the time of the turn of the millennium when fabulous Douglas Laing, Rare Malts and, later, the excellent Diageo Special Releases 21-year-old Rosebank all appeared.
What's clear, though, is that Rosebank definitely can be ready early, and that young Rosebank can be absurdly good. The Flora and Fauna Rosebank 12-year-old, which was discontinued after the 2006 edition, provides ample evidence of this fact, and with Rosebank's revival underway, new owners Ian MacLeod Distillers, and all fans of this wonderful single malt, are rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of new young Rosebank, which should be with us inside the next decade or so.
