Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 50.7%

Matured for over 50 years in a single first-fill sherry butt this Mortlach is a must for any serious whisky drinker or collector.

Encapsulating the very essence of Gordon & MacPhail's philosophy, the Private Collection comprises a truly exceptional and unique collection of greatly-aged single malts from celebrated, little known, and closed distilleries in Scotland.

This exquisite and rich Mortlach from Gordon & MacPhail was distilled in 1969 and aged for 50 years in first-fill sherry butt #92001201 before being bottled in 2019 with a yield of just 365 bottles.

The Private Collection is what Gordon & MacPhail is all about - Casks are personally selected by members of the Urquhart family and these are from whiskies of a great age from Scottish distilleries that are much celebrated, little known or closed. The whiskies are only selected for bottling when they are ready to be done so and timing is everything.

Each bottle is presented in a high-quality wooden box.

Nose: Aromatic ginger and brown sugar aromas combine, giving way to rich cocoa beans. A subtle vanilla edge develops alongside succulent fruitcake and roasted almond notes.
Palate: Smooth and rich with flavours of ripe forest fruits and fragrant blood orange peel are complemented by subtle traces of white pepper. Cinnamon comes to the fore alongside intense dark chocolate with mature oak.
Finish: Long and smooth with lingering chocolate smothered almonds and oak tannins.
