Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 40%
An old bottle of Glenfiddich 12-year-old Caoran Reserve, a short-lived smoky Glenfiddich core range extension first introduced in 2003 when the emerging trend for peaty whisky was really gathering pace. This bottle dates from before the packaging was revamped in 2008.
Glenfiddich Caoran - the name comes from the Gaelic for Peat Ember, apparently - was finished in Islay whisky casks to give it a layer of smoky phenolic flavours, but although it was popular with some whisky fans the experiment didn't catch on in the numbers required and the product was discontinued in 2010. This relatively gentle smoky dram has found its audience nowadays though, with the secondary market prices increasing steadily.
