A single cask of Glendronach 1972, bottled as a 38-year-old without colouring or chill filtration back in 2010 after being selected by head honcho Billy Walker for Batch 2 of the distillery's Single Cask releases.
The 38-year-old Glendronach 1972 came from Cask 718, an Oloroso sherry butt that yielded 396 bottles at a very promising 51.5%. The quality of these famous early batches of single casks released after the Walker takeover is legendary, with rich, complex drams that revealed the distillery was another sleeping giant and set the stage for Glendronach's enormous popularity today.

An exciting deep rich brown coloured liquid.
A compote of fruit together with dried grapes is lovely on the tongue.
Nicely sweetened syrup is evident too.
Invested in two bottles but will be ordering a third.
Great warming malt enjoyed by two. (One aka Pig)
I know I bought a cask strength whisky but was expecting a nice taste but the strength overpowered the flavor, I found it harsh, but I am not a whiskey conasur. I also bought the secret Orkney signatory cask strength and that was very nice.
