A wonderful old bottle of Clynelish 12-year-old released in the 1970s in the iconic white label design with DCL subsidiary Ainslie & Heilbron still as the licensees of the distillery.
These bottlings contain 1960s whisky distilled at the original Clynelish distillery which of course had already been rebranded as Brora in the 1970s by the time this bottling came out, and they really have to be tasted to be believed.
Expect thick notes of engine oil, coal, wild flowers, massive concentrated coastal notes with tons of minerality, flints, delicate, oily phenols, huge waxiness and metallic notes with paraffin, camphor, resin, polish and white fruits. Some of the most unique and distinctive whisky ever bottled. Old school Clynelish is not easy, it's not sexy and it can be difficult but if you like this style, this will blow your mind.

I bought this as a present then did the tour with my brother at Lindores Abbey distillery in Newburgh Fife. The bottle i bought from Whisky-online was cheaper than at Lindores ,very happy again and a very quick delivery.
A fantastic line up of drams from Alistair's range, all presented at full cask strength. Alistair gave a very informative narrative of the independent bottling industry, with many anecdotes and experiences shared. The whiskies selected were all top class, and as always the hosting by Whisky Online was brilliant. Looking forward to the next tasting events guys.
