Irish Single Malt Whiskey
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 40%
Bottled in 2000 at the turn of the millennium, we reckon this is the first release of Bushmills 21-year-old. Like the 16-year-old, this 21-year-old Bushmills is labelled as 'Matured in Three Woods'.
There's a difference, though. While the 16-year-old is a Port finish, the three woods in question here are sherry casks (generally Oloroso) and bourbon casks, where the initial maturation takes place, before the batch is assembled and then racked into Madeira casks for finishing, adding a layer of intense sweetness to Bushmills' delightful single malt whiskey.
Bushmills 21-year-old is a fixture in the distillery's core range now, over two decades later, so it's great to see the bottle that started it all. A rare opportunity to taste 1970s-distilled Bushmills Irish single malt whiskey.
