Dark Rum
Bottled By Elixir Distillers 70cl / 46.2%
July the 31st 1970 was indeed a sad day for the British Navy, for this was the day that the last rum ration was issued to serving seamen in the Royal Navy - and 31st July was henceforth known as Black Tot Day.
As a commemoration of this tradition, Elixir Distillers have produced this fine Navy style dark golden Caribbean rum. Black Tot combines elegant, rich flavours from Barbados and Guyana with the bold character of Jamaica, with both pot and column-distilled rums in the blend.
This multi-layered rum is unsweetened, un-chill filtered and bottled at 46.2% ABV for extra punch, with tangy citrus and deep treacly molasses flavours making this perfect for an officer class rum and coke.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Thick and fruity, with pineapples, bananas and freshly-removed banana peel in a chamois leather bag. Golden syrup, brown sugar and funkily sweet sugar-cane juice peek out from behind the fruit, with a touch of polished oak following in their wake.
Palate: Rounded and rich, with butter toffee, banana cream and caramel to start. Gentle cinnamon and allspice build, with more fruit – baked apples, pineapple cubes and dried mango – joined by coffee, bittersweet dark chocolate and a grind of black pepper.
Finish: Chocolatey mocha coffee fades, leaving roasted bananas and a tingle of anise.
Comment: A versatile blend, showcasing the best of Barbadian, Guyanan and Jamaican rums – fruity, rich and funky.
