A 25-year-old Macduff 1997 single cask bottled in 2023 by Douglas Laing without colouring or chill filtration for their Extra Old Particular (XOP) range.
This 1997 Macduff 25-year-old came from cask #DL17100, a single refill hogshead that yielded 280 bottles at a hearty 50.2% cask strength, which seems pretty ideal for a 'natural' Speyside of this age - this should be a patisserie-themed delight.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: The Nose with the sweetest barely notes coupled with honey glazed fruits and a gentle spiciness.
Palate: The Palate is fulsome and mouth coating – initially anticipate custard and a thick creaminess giving way to a lemon meringue pie style.
Finish: The lingering finish reveals more of that earlier spiciness with a touch of cinnamon alongside puff pastry and poached pears.
Haven't opened the bottle yet but I remember very clearly how good the sample was when we did the tasting with Douglas Laing. Mmmm. What a Dram.

I bought this as a present then did the tour with my brother at Lindores Abbey distillery in Newburgh Fife.The bottle i bought from Whisky-online was cheaper than at Lindores ,very happy again and a very quick delivery.
A fantastic line up of drams from Alistair's range, all presented at full cask strength. Alistair gave a very informative narrative of the independent bottling industry, with many anecdotes and experiences shared.
