Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 40%
This Glenfiddich Special Old Reserve Speyside single malt whisky was one of a series of collectable tin editions celebrating the Scottish clans that was released by Glenfiddich in the 1980s and 1990s before the distillery reintroduced age statements to the range. This particular tin features the Clan Drummond and the label uses the now-illicit 'Pure Malt' term.
So ubiquitous were these Glenfiddich tins at the time that even today many of them can still be found housing biscuits, stationery or spaghetti in cupboards across Scotland - or standing proudly on display on thousands of mantelpieces and home bars.
The whisky Glenfiddich bottled back in the '90s was a rather more naked and distillate-driven affair, with lots of white fruits, floral notes, butter, grass, green apples and some dusty mineral notes to boot - lighter and quite different from the current bottlings. These Glenfiddichs are a vital touchstone for anyone wishing to truly appreciate the whisky scene of the 1980s and 1990s.

Balmenach was a new Distillery to me that is probably better known these days for it's Gin production. I've tried quite a few of the SV 100 Proof offerings and have yet to be disappointed. I have found that Balmenach Whisky isn't that easy to get hold of so this was a good opportunity to try it and I was nicely impressed. If you like sherry bombs you'll probably like this one.
Love Miltonduff malt whisky but normally out of my price range.
This one from the Signatory 100 Proof Series although only eight years old tastes superb and is excellent value for money.
