Description

Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Fable 70cl / 56.3%

Fable have quickly made a name for themselves with two previous batches of excellent full strength single casks from Diageo distilleries. This 2009 Blair Athol is part of the company's third tranche of 2021 releases and comes from hogshead cask 304772, which yielded 307 bottles at 56.3%.

Fable's eye-catching artwork represents different chapters of the company's Clanyard Bay myth. This 12-year-old Blair Athol 2009 is from Chapter Six and is decorated with a rather scary-looking Crow.

Nose: Lively with floral and grassy notes, leading to white peaches and grapefruit juice. Hints of fresh mint and warm cereal biscuity notes.

Palate: Citrus peel and toasted gingerbread. Sweeter citrus notes develop into honey, cinnamon and spice. With water added Creamy vanilla fudge, baking spices, jam tarts, and peppery oak come to the fore.

Finish: Medium to long finish with notes of caramelised citrus, shaved oak, white pepper, honey and warming spices of cloves and burnt vanilla.

Tasting event, what a starting dram!

An evening of tasting arranged by Tim & Wayne and this was the first of 6 Fable drams. Absolutely remarkable, incredible flavours, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee/caramel notes and an aroma of rich Christmas cake/pudding. Purchased within the hour.
