Torabhaig is only the second legal distillery on the Isle of Skye and this is their first-ever release of single malt whisky!
Owners Mossburn Distillers built Torabhaig on a meticulously-restored farmstead, with the first spirit running off the stills in 2017. This Torabhaig Legacy Series One single malt whisky is from that vintage and is the first of four planned bottlings in the Torabhaig Legacy Series that should take us through the distillery's path to maturity before the arrival of Torabhaig 10-year-old in 2028.
In the meantime, Island single malt whisky fans will be scrapping over these Legacy series bottles. Thankfully, Legacy Series One is a reasonably large batch of 32,000 bottles from first-fill bourbon casks, although only 3,000 bottles are for the UK and that probably still won't be enough for everyone that wants one.
Torabhaig 2017 The Legacy Series One is peated to 55ppm, a style the distillery refers to as Well-Tempered Peat, and has been bottled at 46%.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
