Writer's Tears Red Head is a mystery Irish whiskey from distillers and independent bottlers Walsh Whiskey. Red Head has been a big hit for Writers' Tears since its introduction in 2016.

Unlike its stablemates, Writers' Tears Red Head is not a mix of single pot still and single malt Irish whiskey - it's made entirely with triple-distilled Irish single malt whiskey, and furthermore it's aged in European oak casks seasoned with Oloroso sherry, giving it a deep reddish gold colour.

A bottle of Redbreast Lustau edition single pot still Irish whiskey from the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork, home of Jameson, Powers and Green Spot.

Bottled at a hearty 46% without chill filtration, Lustau is a special edition of Redbreast first released in 2016, and is matured initially in ex-bourbon casks before being finished in Oloroso sherry casks from the famous Lustau sherry producer, one of the most prestigious houses in Jerez. Redbreast Lustau is a rich, complex Irish single pot still whiskey that will delight fans of sherried drams.

The Irishman 12-year-old is an indie-bottled triple distilled Irish single malt whiskey from the splendid Walsh Whiskey, the company behind Writer's Tears. The Irishman is bottled at a gentle, easy-drinking 43% and has picked up a string of awards at international whiskey competitions.

Where Writer's Tears is a mix of malt and pot still whiskeys, The Irishman 12-year-old is 100% single malt whiskey and is bottled from small batches of first fill ex-bourbon casks, giving the gentle Irish malt's fresh fruit flavours room to express themselves, while adding delicious toasted vanilla and spices.

Nose: Sweet spicy notes of Vanilla, Cinnamon and even a tincture of Clove. All balanced with Apples and Pears, some charred wood and freshly cut hay.

Palate: Sweet with Vanilla, bolstered by Black Peppercorns, reluctantly giving way to a succulent fruity mid-section.

Finish: Lingering succulent flavour of Barley and Oak. A touch of creamy dairy fudge and Dark Chocolate.

The 2022 release of The Irishman's Cask Strength Irish Whiskey from Irish indie bottlers Walsh Whiskey is a mix of single malt and single pot still Irish whiskeys and weighs in at a hearty 54.9%.

The Irishman Cask Strength is an annual small batch release from Walsh Whiskey, and the 2022 release was a limited edition of just over 6000 bottles worldwide. The casks for each Irishman Cask Strength edition are chosen personally by founder Bernard Walsh and this 2022 release is a high quality combo of orchard fruits and patisserie spices.

Blended Irish Whiskey

Sailor's Home Caravelle 10-year-old Batch 1 is the second bottling in the Sailor's Home brand's Island Series of special editions, and is a 10-year-old blended Irish whiskey finished in casks that were previously home to Martiniquaise rhum agricole, a type of rum distilled from pure sugar cane juice rather than molasses or sugar syrup.

The Caravelle name comes from a type of sailing ship used for trade in the Caribbean in the 15th-17th centuries, and is also a reference to the Presqu’ile de la Caravelle nature reserve on Martinique. Rum cask finishes work well with Irish whiskey, and with Sailor's Home Caravelle 10-year-old, the rhum agricole casks have added an extra layer of sweet pineapple and banana exotic fruit flavours that complement the whiskey beautifully.
