An old and very interesting bottle of Eagle Rare 10-year-old 101 Proof Kentucky Straight bourbon whiskey, bottled in the 1980s at 101 US Proof, aka 50.5%. These early bottlings of Eagle Rare 10-year-old date from 1975-1989 and were distilled at Seagram’s Old Prentice Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, which today is known as Four Roses.
Bottled in 1982, this is one of the earlier editions of the Eagle Rare brand, which was introduced by the struggling Seagram’s company in 1975 in an attempt to steal some of Wild Turkey’s market share, and comes complete with a wooden presentation box.
Sazerac bought the Eagle Rare brand in 1989, switching the bourbon source to Heaven Hill for most of the 1990s before relaunching Eagle Rare as a small batch 17-year-old soon after the millennium using stock from their Buffalo Trace distillery, which they had bought in 1992.

I bought this as a present then did the tour with my brother at Lindores Abbey distillery in Newburgh Fife. The bottle i bought from Whisky-online was cheaper than at Lindores ,very happy again and a very quick delivery.
A fantastic line up of drams from Alistair's range, all presented at full cask strength. Alistair gave a very informative narrative of the independent bottling industry, with many anecdotes and experiences shared. The whiskies selected were all top class, and as always the hosting by Whisky Online was brilliant. Looking forward to the next tasting events guys.
