Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 40%
An old bottle of Glenturret 12-year-old Highland single malt whisky. This rare 12-year-old Glenturret was an official bottling from the 1990s or early 2000s, before being discontinued around 2003, so the whisky will have been distilled most likely in the mid to late 1980s and no later than 1991.
This old Glenturret 12-year-old straddles a transitional era in the distillery’s history, when Glenturret was owned by Highland Distillers, who bought the distillery in 1990, and then Edrington / William Grant, whose 1887 company purchased Highland Distillers in 1999 and turned it into the home of Famous Grouse. Nowadays, Edrington is now in the hands of French crystal company Lalique Group, who purchased the distillery in 2019, while Famous Grouse was sold by Edrington to former partners William Grant & Sons in 2025.

Balmenach was a new Distillery to me that is probably better known these days for it's Gin production. I've tried quite a few of the SV 100 Proof offerings and have yet to be disappointed. I have found that Balmenach Whisky isn't that easy to get hold of so this was a good opportunity to try it and I was nicely impressed. If you like sherry bombs you'll probably like this one.
