Rum & Rhum

Rum is a spirit distilled from sugar cane juice or its derivatives, most commonly molasses. Produced using pot or column stills, rum is an exceptionally versatile spirit, with white, golden and dark varieties offering a wide range of styles and flavours.

Most rum is made from molasses, a byproduct of sugar refining, which is diluted, fermented and distilled before being aged in oak casks or rested in stainless steel tanks. Rum made directly from fresh sugar cane juice is known as Rhum Agricole, traditionally associated with French Caribbean territories. These rums typically have a fresher, grassier and more vegetal character, with less pronounced sweetness than molasses-based rums.
