A turn of the millennium bottling of Highland Park's classic 12-year-old Island single malt whisky, released in the short-lived but much-loved tall bottle first introduced around the tail end of the 1990s.
This Highland Park 12-year-old was released towards the end of a golden era for Highland Park fans, when the distillery's core range was straightforward, fantastic value for money and HP's whisky was rated by many contemporary whisky fans as even higher quality than its stablemate Macallan.
The tall bottle 12-year-old and 18-year-old Highland Parks released in this period are absolutely superb drams and still offer great bang for your buck.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
