An old small batch Glenrothes Speyside single malt whisky bottled by independent bottlers Gordon & MacPhail as part of their Rare Old range. This 1961 Glenrothes was bottled in 2001, making the whisky either 39 or 40 years old.

At the time this whisky was distilled, Glenrothes was primarily regarded as a "top-class" blending malt, essential to the character of major blends such as Cutty Sark and The Famous Grouse.

This specific 1961 vintage is one of only four Glenrothes released by Gordon & MacPhail under their Rare Old series between 1996 and 2002.
