One of the very greatest of the Port Ellen Special Releases, the Second Release 24-year-old Port Ellen 1978 was bottled in 2002 at its natural cask strength of 59.35% and has both the fierce austerity and the extraordinary depth of flavour so beloved by fans of these legendary Port Ellen official bottlings. This one is Tim F's favourite ever official Port Ellen.

My usual preference is for a peaty whisky; however, the Aberargie Inaugural Single Malt 2026 was an enjoyable experience. I will definitely be trying more.
I’m not a great fan of Peated Whisky but this one is superb, gently Peated Sherry Hogshead doesn’t get better than this very smooth Whisky, a very pleasant surprise.
