The green Discovery packaging indicates that this G&M Glenallachie 14-year-old Discovery has been matured entirely in ex-bourbon casks, which is great as so many official Glenallachies are from sherry or refill sherry casks. This Discovery 14-year-old will be a fascinating dram for anyone who has yet to try a 'natural' bourbon cask Glenallachie.
These Discovery bottlings take some beating from a value for money perspective - a 14 year old Speysider for £47? Yes please!! Having been matured in ex-bourbon casks only, this Glenallachie has a very fresh, orchard fruit loaded taste profile - apple strudel, poached pears and an underlying ex-bourbon oak vanilla sweetness. A very 'fresh' whisky, ideal for consumption in the spring and summer months. Amazing value for money.

My usual preference is for a peaty whisky; however, the Aberargie Inaugural Single Malt 2026 was an enjoyable experience. I will definitely be trying more.
I’m not a great fan of Peated Whisky but this one is superb, gently Peated Sherry Hogshead doesn’t get better than this very smooth Whisky, a very pleasant surprise.
