Lowland Single Grain Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Dead Whisky Society 70cl / 54%
Grain whiskies can often be categories under the same umbrella, but like malts, we know that is far from true.
When we first tried this single grain whisky we were pleasingly surprised by how clean and fresh it was. We even fooled a few local customers with a blind sample and they were really keen to know what 'malt' it was!
We've all judged whiskies with our eyes but actually, it's what's in the glass that counts.
Established in 1855 Caledonian is one of eight lost distilleries in the City of Edinburgh and was one of the biggest grain distilleries in Scotland. Interestingly in the 1880s the distillery produced malt whisky but only for a short period of time. The distillery stopped production in 1988, 10 years later in 1998 it was demolished and the land was transformed into houses.
