Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 46.6%
Strathearn is a new Highland distillery that has largely flown under the radar amidst the hype and hoopla around so many of the new distilleries releasing single malt whisky for the first time.
Strathearn is on a small farmstead near Perth in the Scottish Highlands and began distillation in 2013. The distillery also makes gin on their alambic stills. Strathearn was bought by Douglas Laing towards the end of 2019 and this is the new owners' first release of single malt whisky from the distillery.
Strathearn Batch 001 is whisky from the 2013 and 2014 vintages that has been matured in virgin European oak and first fill oloroso sherry casks, before bottling at 46.6% without colour or chill filtration. With Douglas Laing keen to extend the distillery we're sure that there'll be plenty more exciting Strathearn single malts in the pipeline - the distillery has already been making peated spirit as well, so watch this space...
