Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Gleann Mor Spirits Company 70cl / 51.7%
A single cask Caol Ila 1983 42-year-old Islay single malt whisky released in 2025 by indie bottlers Gleann Mor as part of their Rare Find range. This was a prestige special edition by Gleann Mor to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
Bottled without colouring or chill filtration, this 42-year-old Caol Ila 1983 came from single cask 1288, a refill hogshead cask that has given the spirit a glorious deep chestnut brown colour but sadly yielded just 42 bottles at its impressive natural cask strength of 51.7%. A magnificent long-aged Islay dram, this 1983 Caol Ila is a fitting tribute to a decade of exciting releases from one of Scotland’s best new indie bottlers.

If you like your Whisky matured in a sherry cask then you will not be disappointed with this one, the flavours transferred from the Oloroso butts are unmistakably sherry, with a mixture of fruitiness coming through once you’ve added a slug of water, in my opinion at this cask strength you need need a good measure of H2O to really appreciate this very fine reasonably priced Whisky.
Definitely would buy again !
