A single cask 1986 Scapa bottled as a 33-year-old without colouring or chill filtration in 2019 by Gordon & MacPhail for their upgraded Connoisseur's Choice range.
This 33-year-old Scapa 1986 matured for 33 years in a refill bourbon barrel that yielded a paltry 65 bottles at its natural cask strength of 55.2%. Scapa is a tiny distillery, has spent much of the last thirty years in mothballs, and official bottlings are rare and often disappointing. These G&M bottlings are masterpieces and represent the true spirit of this elusive but fantastic distillery.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
