One of several spectacular early 1970s Clynelish bottled by Diageo for their legendary Rare Malts series.

This one was distilled in 1972 and bottled from refill wood in 1997 at 61.3%. As you would expect from this distillery, vintage and series, this is a beast of a dram.

Typically full of wax, petroleum, honey and fruit but with more of a gutsy, coastal and slightly peaty edge due to the younger bottling age than the majority of other 72s available.

This is austere, unsexy and mighty whisky that anyone serious about understanding the stuff should try, Unlike any other spirit produced today.
