A 30-year-old Bas Armagnac blended and bottled without colouring by master negociants Darroze for their Les Grands Assemblages range.
Darroze can be seen as the brandy equivalent of an independent whisky bottler like Gordon & MacPhail or Signatory Vintage, buying up casks and demi-johns in small parcels from the Bas Armagnac region's finest single estate producers and ageing them in their own cellars before bottling.
Darroze only released single estate single vintage single cask armagnacs at full strength until relatively recently; these blended Bas Armagnacs were produced due to popular demand and harness the full scale of the company's deep knowledge of aged eaux-de-vie. Darroze's brandies are the best possible introduction to the Armagnac category as a whole.
