There have been a lot of good bottlings of the now infamous peated Bunnahabhains but this, for me, is by far the best. Thick sherry and heavy, oily peat combine to make a super concentrated, powerhouse Islay monster. Fantastic flavour delivery with brilliant length and complexity to boot. Everything you could hope for from a great Islay malt is here, give this thirty years in the bottle and it should be bordering on a masterpiece.


This Bunnahabhain was bottled by Queen of the Moorlands for their Rare Cask series. It was distilled in 1997, matured in cask number 3148 and bottled in 2010 with an outrun of only 289 bottles at 53.2% Vol.
