This 17-year-old Benrinnes 2006 from Infrequent Flyers was finished in a virgin oak cask that yielded 271 bottles at its natural cask strength of 56.1%. Benrinnes is a sturdy, muscular spirit and the virgin oak should have added strong vanilla and oakspices.

Colour: Golden amber.
Nose: Banana fritters, pineapple candy sticks and vanilla cheesecake.
Palate: Really sweet and spicy. Thornton's Original toffee dusted with Demerara sugar. Brandy snaps, sweet ground mixed spice, with a slight peppery note at the close.
