We’re delighted to announce the imminent arrival of the first flight of releases from new independent single malt whisky bottlers Pendulum Spirits!
Pendulum have created a Fable series of independent bottlings, which will be released as Volumes relating to atmospheric tales from Scottish folklore. More importantly, there’s some very promising single malt Scotch whisky in each of their very snazzily-designed bottles.
Pendulum have organised the Fable range into a series of Chapters, with each whisky in their first batch of releases bearing a label related to one aspect of their first Fable, The Ghost Piper of Clanyard Bay.
The first whiskies in Fable’s Volume One release are as follows:
Caol Ila 2009 12 Year Old Fable Chapter One: Clanyard - Hogshead, 57.5%
Linkwood 2008 12 Year Old Fable Chapter Two: Folk - Hogshead, 54.9%
Dailuaine 2008 12 Year Old Fable Chapter Three: Moon - Hogshead, 56.2%
Benrinnes 2009 12 Year Old Fable Chapter Four: Bay - Hogshead, 55.5%
Mannochmore 2008 13 Year Old Fable Chapter Five: Hound - Hogshead 58.8%
As is clear from all the effort that has gone into these Fable bottlings, Pendulum are very serious about their mission to combine whisky and storytelling. Their Ghost Piper myth is illustrated on their labels by Bolivian artist Hugo Cuellar with each release featuring a different label design relating to a chapter of the fable.

Sometimes whiskies with extravagant labels and backstories fall victim to style over substance, but as you can see from the details above, that’s not the case here. Each of these whiskies are refill casks from high quality Diageo distilleries and crucially they’ve been bottled at cask strength without colouring or chill filtration.
This demonstrates that Pendulum know what they’re doing, and bodes well for the quality of these Fable releases. Indeed, the Dailuaine and the Mannochmore have already been given very good scores on Whiskyfun, so we’re excited to try these new Fable releases and will be keeping close tabs on the next few chapters of Pendulum Spirits’ Fable single malt whiskies.
