Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: The Alistair Walker Whisky Company 70cl / 62.5%
A 13-year-old Braeval 2009 bottled in 2022 without colouring or chill filtration by Alistair Walker Whisky Co. for Batch 11 of the Infrequent Flyers series.
Braeval, also sometimes known as Braes of Glenlivet, was built in the early 1970s by Chivas Brothers and produces over 4 million litres of spirit per annum, the vast majority of which goes into owner Pernod Ricard's blends.
This 2009 Braeval 13-year-old was finished in a hogshead cask that previously was home to the Italian red wine Valpolicella and yielded 318 bottles at an impressive 62.5%.

Tasting Notes
Official Tasting Notes
Colour: Rich amber.
Nose: Very aromatic. Deep, red wine notes - red berries, marmalade and rosehips. A slight (and pleasant) savoury note can be found lurking side-stage.
Taste: Great texture - thick and viscous. The "big red" influence from the Valpolicella cask is apparent, definitely one for wine lovers; super fruity, with vibrant Victoria plums and cranberries, which linger (naturally). Notes of crushed ginger and black pepper make a late cameo.
