Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 49%
Ardbeg Galileo was distilled in 1999 and bottled in 2012 to celebrate Ardbeg's not-at-all-gimmicky experiment in space ageing, where they somehow got some of their whisky into orbit in a rocket, and is of course named after Galileo Galilei. Sadly, the world-changing Italian astronomer, physicist and philosopher's opinions on Ardbeg's marketing campaigns must be left to the imagination.
Galileo was also an unmanned NASA spacecraft which was sent to space in 1989 to study planet Jupiter and its many moons. Ardbeg Galileo, meanwhile, was a mix of Ardbeg malt whisky matured in ex-Marsala casks from Sicily, balanced with first-fill ex-bourbon casks and bottled at a hearty 49%. A popular dram with Ardbeg fans.
