The Mac-Talla Cognac, a special edition mystery Islay single malt Scotch whisky bottled by Morrison Distillers for Feis Ile 2026. Given the Morrison family's long and storied history with Islay, this release promises to be an exceptional addition.
This bottling is a refined celebration of Islay peat, enriched by the elegance of Cognac cask maturation. The process imparts layers of ripe apricot, honeyed grape, and subtle oak spice, bringing a rounded sophistication to the smoky character of this Islay Single Malt.
Release as an official Friends of Feis 2026, the spirit began life as a delicately peated new make matured in first-fill bourbon casks. It then spent a further two years finishing in six 225L Cognac casks and were married for an additional month prior to bottling.
The entire project—including new make selection, cask filling, maturation, vatting, and bottling—was conducted under close supervision at Aberargie Distillery to ensure precision and balance.
