Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 59.1%

A single cask Brora 1972 40-year-old Highland single malt whisky bottled in 2014 as an exclusive edition for travel retail shop World of Whiskies. Brora 1972 40-year-old was bottled at its full natural cask strength without filtration and was both the oldest and the most expensive official Brora ever bottled at the time of release.

This miraculous 40-year-old Brora 1972 was one of just 160 bottles released at its astonishing natural cask strength of 59.1% and was packaged in a simple, elegant crystal decanter with a copper neck collar and a very chunky wooden presentation box created by NEJ Stevenson, the Queen's master cabinet makers.

After all the fanfare, mercifully the whisky fully lived up to its hype - this is a truly remarkable Brora at a whopping strength, and although forty years in the cask have refined the rough edges it still packs a super-intense peaty punch and has a bewilderingly intense complexity and depth of flavour, with the classic Brora smoked citrus fruit, farmy, meaty, waxy notes and coastal hints of saline and wet sand. This 1972 Brora 40-year-old was acclaimed on release as the best official Brora since the glory days of the early Special Release 30-year-olds, and its reputation has only grown since. A glorious, life-affirming whisky.
